Queen Maxima of The Netherlands attended the 650th anniversary of the Bartholomeus Gasthuis in Utrecht. Bartholomeus Gasthuis is an iconic guesthouse dating back to 1367 and now houses the elderly. The always chic royal wore a fitted yellow pencil skirt teamed with a cream blouse decorated with a bold yellow flower.
This was Queen Maxima’s second outing since the death of her father earlier this month. The Dutch queen was ever the professional as she stepped out for the first time since her father’s death on Tuesday, August 22nd. On that occasion she stunned in a colorful ensemble for a trip to Jessehof Homeless Center, Deft.
As I mentioned before, the Queen lost her father Jorge Zorreguieta on August 8. He fought a valiant fight for several years against a form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Maxima’s two eldest daughters, Princesses Catharina-Amalia and Alexia, and their father accompanied the grieving queen to her father’s funeral.
Undoubtedly, August has been an emotional roller coaster for the cheery and sensitive queen. But, like most of us who have lost a parent as adults, we continue on the road that is filled with warm memories and sad moments.
