The brilliant blue gems found in the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Tiara is a dazzling way to start September. This tiara is a magnificent jewelry piece and is one of Sweden’s Queen Silvia’s favorites.
Many experts consider the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Parure as a beautiful example of jewelry craftsmanship. The complete set consists of a tiara, necklace, earrings, brooch and four hairpins. The original earrings have been lost so two of the hair pins have been re-fashioned into earrings.
The tiara displays eleven large, rectangular-shaped dark blue sapphires set on a base of honeysuckle and leaves crafted from eleven oval-shaped diamonds and hundreds of smaller diamonds. This sapphire parure has become Queen Silvia’s signature set of jewels. The Queen always looks stunning when she wears the sapphires. We can only hope that Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Estelle will appreciate the beauty and glamor of these royal blue gems when they sit on Sweden’s throne.
